Luke Gruber: Mandolin
Luke was a young lad when he began playing the mandolin.
Luke, 21, of Roseville, Minn. plucked the mandolin’s strings for the first time when he was 9 years old. Now you’ll rarely find Luke without the mandolin in his hands. Luke was first introduced to classic mandolin players like Bill Monroe (The Father of Bluegrass) and Ricky Skaggs, but has also drawn inspiration from Chris Thile of the Punch Brothers. Luke plays outside of the box as he has progressed in forming his own style, whether he is playing a fast solo-lick or a thoughtful accompaniment.
Luke has spent more than 10 years harnessing the mandolin’s many intricacies. He has dabbled in a span of genres, whether its traditional bluegrass and folk or blues and rock-and-roll.
Luke is a co-founder of Blue Hazard and plans to be buried with his mandolin and Blue Hazard memorabilia.
